Samsung may have dropped the ball a bit with One UI 7, but the company is looking to bounce back — and fast. While users are still waiting for the stable One UI 7 (Android 15) update to land on their devices, Samsung is already gearing up to launch its next-gen foldables with One UI 8 preloaded. Yep, you read that right.
Samsung’s next foldables will come with One UI 8 out of the box
According to Sammobile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will ship with Android 16 and One UI 8 right out of the box. That’s a big deal — not only because it makes these devices the first to run One UI 8, but also because it signals a major shift in Samsung’s software release strategy.
Unlike One UI 7, which has faced delays and left users feeling a little forgotten, Samsung seems to be fast-tracking development for One UI 8. And if things go according to plan, the rollout for current flagships — like the Galaxy S25 series — could happen much sooner than what we’re seeing with One UI 7.

One UI 8 might launch shortly after Android 16 goes public
Google is expected to release the stable version of Android 16 in May or June 2025. If Samsung sticks to its usual mid-year foldables launch window, the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 could hit the shelves just days or weeks after Android 16 goes official. That’s a quick turnaround, and a welcome one.

We’ll likely get a full Android 16 preview at Google I/O 2025, which is set for May 20–21. So far, Google has already rolled out three Android 16 beta builds, and One UI 8 will probably build on those core improvements — expect smoother animations, more privacy features, and better multitasking tools baked into Samsung’s custom skin.
Samsung hasn’t confirmed whether it’ll run a One UI 8 beta program yet, but testing is reportedly already underway for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. If a beta program does launch, those three will likely be the first in line — no surprises there.
All in all, it looks like Samsung is trying to course-correct after the One UI 7 delays. With One UI 8 expected to debut alongside the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, things could start looking up for Galaxy users who’ve been waiting (impatiently) for a more timely update cycle.
Stay tuned — things are about to get interesting in the second half of 2025.
