Samsung has started rolling out the May 2025 security update for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in India. This latest software release aims to keep your device secure with the most recent vulnerability fixes from Google and Samsung.
The update carries firmware version S91xBXXS8DYDB for all three Galaxy S23 models. It’s a reasonably lightweight download at 476.33MB, so you shouldn’t need to free up much space to install it. Right now, the rollout is live for international variants in India, but other regions—including the US—are expected to get the same update in the coming days as part of Samsung’s typical phased approach.
The May 2025 security patch doesn’t bring any flashy new features, but it deals with a large set of security fixes designed to patch both Android system vulnerabilities and Samsung-specific threats. Regular security updates like this one are crucial for protecting your data and keeping malware at bay.
Samsung fans have their eyes on bigger things, though. With One UI 8.0 based on Android 16 now in beta for the Galaxy S25 series in some countries, it’s only a matter of time before similar test builds—and soon after, stable updates—arrive for the Galaxy S23 series. If you’re itching for the latest features and UI refinements, you’ll want to keep an eye on your notification shade in the coming weeks.
To install the update on your Galaxy S23, head over to Settings > Software Update > Download and install. If you don’t see it right away, it should appear soon as Samsung expands the rollout.
